On May 10, 2014 the Embassy of Austria in Washington, D.C. will open its doors to the public as part of the annual EU Embassies' Open House: a day of family fun, food, culture and more. The event offers visitors a rare look inside the embassies and provides a unique opportunity to experience the cultural heritage and national traditions of the 28 EU member states.

Discover why Austria ranks high for quality of life. Learn more about Austria during a presentation by the Austrian Tourist Office. The highlights of this years Open House Day at the Embassy of Austria include a live apple strudel preparation, wine tasting seminars featuring exclusive Austrian wines and performances of the dancing group Alpine Dancers. In addition to that, Austrian sweet treats and drinks will be served.

The program for this years Open House Day will be:

Live Apple Strudel Preparation I:
Visitors will be able to watch Austrian certified Master Chef Wilhelm Jonach prepare one of Austria’s world-famous pastries, the Viennese Apple Strudel

11:00 am
Wine Seminar I:
Join one of our wine seminars with Klaus Wittauer of "Fine Wines from Austria"

Performance Alpine Dancers I:
The Alpine Dancers perform folk dances in couples and trios from Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
