To get you in the right mood for the Holiday season, the Embassy will host a special concert on December 13, 2013. Famed Jazz musician and composer Burnett Thompson will present his program “Christmas in Vienna.” According to Thompson, the idea behind his concert program stems from the time he spent in Vienna from 1972 to 1975. During that time, Burnett studied at the Hochschule Wien as a student of Eduard Mrazek. The concert at the Embassy will also feature songs from his album “Christmas in Vienna-Reflections on the Imperial City,” which was composed at the University of Vienna recording studio in 2010. The first performance was hosted by the White House Historical Association in December 2012. According to the composer himself, the central theme of the album reflects many fleeting memories of the little and big things about Vienna, which includes specific composers, streets, monuments, the Danube, people and “the feelings that one has in mid-winter while walking home from a meeting with friends after the street cars have stopped running.” So join us for a special evening and let the holiday season begin.
