On January 9, 2013, as part of the 23rd Washington Jewish Film Festival, the comedic drama My Best Enemy was screened in front of an audience of 200 guests at the Austrian Embassy. The WWII drama, tells the story of Rudi Smekal and Victor Kaufmann, the son of Jewish gallery owners, who had been been the closest of friends since their early childhood. The events surrounding the annexation of Austria into the Third Reich put their friendship to test when Rudi decides to become an SS Officer. Rudi, desperate for success and recognition, takes Victor as a prisoner during a frantic quest for an Michaelangelo painting believed to be in the possession of Victor's family. However, a stormy night leads to an accident and presents an opportunity for Victor to turn the tables on his captors through a daring scheme of switched identities.
