The 2013 EU Open House

On May 11, 2013, the Austrian Embassy together with the embassies of the EU member states in Washington, D.C. opened its doors again to the public on the occasion of the EU Open House Day. Some 3,100 visitors passed through the embassy between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, sampling Austrian wine and watching master chef Wilhelm Jonach prepare Austrian apple strudel.

Wine enthusiasts could take part in two special wine seminars and experience the art of wine tasting with the Federspiel and Smaragd  levels of Gruener Veltliner  and Riesling. An outdoor café, organized together with the neighboring Embassy of Slovakia, offered drinks and delicacies from restaurant Capitol Prague. Austrian Ambassador Hans Peter Manz met with visitors to discuss Austria and the European Union. The Austrian National Tourist Office presented the beauty of Austria and Austrian Arlines were on site and introduced their new business class.
