The Washington DCJCC presents the annual Hyman S. & Freda Bernstein Jewish Literary Festival, October 14-24. The Festival includes 15 events, with celebrated authors and scholars including Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Chabon and Nobel Prize Winner Erik Kandel. This year, the twin cities Innsbruck and New Orleans are celebrating the 12th anniversary of their partnership. In order to further the cultural exchange between the two cities, Innsbruck sends two Tyrolean artists, Ina Hsu and Wolfgang Wirth, to New Orleans, where they are presenting their exhibition entitled Iconic Choice at the Fine Arts Department of the University of New Orleans.
Anxiety, resignation, exhaustion, yet at the same time hope and joy – all these themes and emotions are depicted in the photographs of Nikki Brown, which will be displayed in the exhibition entitled After Katrina: A visual history of African American men in New Orleans, 2010-2012.

On September 28, Austria was a participant in this year's Euro Night held at La Maison Française. For five years, this annual event has been organized by more than 20 European Union embassies in order to provide an insight into the culture, traditions and cuisine of the individual member states.

This year’s Austrian Science Talk took place on September 15, 2012 at the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, D.C. The annual conference, which is organized by the Office of Science and Technology at the Austrian Embassy in Washington and the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation, and Technology, constitutes a meeting of U.S. - and Canada-based Austrian scientists as well as high-level representatives from Austria from government, academia and business.
On Friday, September 14, the two-day annual conference Austria Connect took place in Washington D.C. This year, Austria Connect, which is organized by the Austrian Trade Commissions in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles brought together more than 120 people including US-based Executives of Austrian subsidiaries, U.S.-Representatives of Austrian companies and established providers of legal tax related logistics and other consultancy services to the US-Austrian Business Community.
