Austrian Science Talk 2012

This year’s Austrian Science Talk took place on September 15, 2012 at the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, D.C. The annual conference, which is organized by the Office of Science and Technology at the Austrian Embassy in Washington and the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation, and Technology, constitutes a meeting of U.S. - and Canada-based Austrian scientists as well as high-level representatives from Austria from government, academia and business. It provided the participants with an opportunity to learn about recent R&D policy developments in Austria and career and funding opportunities. The conference also facilitated the establishment of research collaborations between North America and Austria. In addition, the conference served as a platform for interactive discussion and professional networking. This year’s program included various talks and discussions in the morning and special workshops in the fields of life science and medicine, social sciences and humanities, as well as natural sciences and engineering in the afternoon. The event was concluded with an evening reception at the residence of the Austrian Ambassador Dr. Hans Peter Manz. One day prior to the Austrian Science Talk, the Austria Connect conference, organized by the Austrian Trade Commission, brought together executives of Austrian subsidiaries in the United States.
