Austria Uncorked
On April 19, 2012, the Austrian Wine Marketing Board and the Austrian Trade Commission invited wine lovers to a very special event. Austria Uncorked, which included a professional wine tasting in the afternoon and an exciting public culinary event in the evening, took place at the hip Venue One in Chicago’s West Loop area.
Altogether, the event drew a crowd of over 400 wine enthusiasts. Austria Uncorked provided its guests with the unique opportunity to taste a great variety of exquisite Austrian wines and enjoy exceptional food from six different trendy Chicago restaurants. The culinary highlights and delights included mini-steaks, Spanferkel, and an extensive cheese and ham buffet. For the sweet finale the Austrian Meinl company served the guests not only its delicious coffee but also various pastries. In the afternoon, more than 200 sommeliers and trade pros were present to declare their ever-growing enthusiasm for Grüner Veltliner & Co.
Proceeds from the event benefited the local charity organization Common Threads, which teaches children of low-income families to prepare healthy and affordable meals in order to combat child obesity.
