The 2013 Consular Conference
The 2013 Consular Conference took place at the Austrian Embassy from May 16 - 17, 2013. Every three years, the Embassy invites all its Consul Generals and Honorary Consuls to Washington, D.C. in order to discuss activities and new developments at the Embassy and in Austrian-American relations, as well as developments in consular matters.
The conference included welcoming remarks by Ambassador Hans Peter Manz, talks moderated by the different departments of the Embassy, as well as remarks by Ms. Gladys Boluda (Assistant Chief of Protocol at the U.S. Department of State), Mr. Bruce Matthews (Managing Director, State Department/OFM), Mr. Andrew R. Slaten and Mr. Jess Bratton (FEMA), Mr. Michael Gigl (Director, Austrian National Tourist Office New York), and Mr. Jose M. Muriel (Counselor, Delegation of the European Union to the USA).
A reception and dinner was hosted by the Embassy on Thursday evening at the penthouse of the Bank of America Building in downtown Washington, D.C.
