On June 6, 2012 world-famous and internationally sought-after actor Christoph Waltz was awarded the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art by the President of the Republic of Austria. Waltz received the Austrian distinction from Ambassador Dr. Ralph Scheide during a ceremony at the Austrian Embassy in Berlin.

The project Zeitgeist D.C., organized by the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Embassy of Switzerland, and the Goethe Institute Washington, makes the richness of the German language accessible to English speakers.

The third in a series of exhibitions of Austrian contemporary art, which takes place in cooperation with bäckerstrasse 4 – plattform für junge kunst, has its main focus on paintings and features works by Austrians Elisabeth Wedenig, Matthias Lautner, and Markus Hofer, as well as an artist from Washington, D.C. It reflects the importance of facets of the pluralistic world of the media.

On June 8, 2012, the Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies, in cooperation with the Austrian Cultural Forum Washington, presented the fourth annual Botstiber Lecture on Austrian-American Affairs, which took place at the Austrian Embassy in Washington D.C.
